This coverage can help pay for the injured party&#8217;s medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. It may also help pay your expenses in a related lawsuit. You need at least $20,000 of coverage per person and $40,000 per accident in MA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom:0px; font-size:18px;\"><strong>Property damage liability coverage <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This protects you if you are held responsible for damaging someone else&#8217;s property in a car accident. This coverage helps reimburse another person for their damaged property (such as a car, a street light or a building). It also helps pay your expenses in the event of a related lawsuit. There\u2019s a minimum limit of $5,000 per accident for MA insurance policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom:0px; font-size:18px;\"><strong>Personal Injury Protection (PIP) <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Massachusetts is a no-fault state, which means your PIP coverage pays for you and your passengers for medical expenses and lost wages resulting from an accident, regardless of who caused the crash. UM also covers unidentified drivers, as in the case of hit-and-run accidents. You\u2019re required to have limits of at least $20,000 per person and $40,000 per accident in Massachusetts.
